
Ancient Wisdom On Diet and Health
When I started reading books on health related issues, I thought there were only two or so books for this subject. After counting beyond two hundred I got the shock of my life. The Prophet Isaiah talks about gathering bits and pieces of information from various sources, putting them together to make better sense and better evaluation. Amongst the African communities, it was once assumed that Western knowledge was better about anything and everything which was supposed to be known. However, this false held ignorance is not true and has costed the African people their original lifestyle which they exchanged for the Western lifestyle which is accompanied with various diseases which were unheard of amongst the African people. The diseases associated with Western Lifestyle are diabetes, strokes, cancer, hypertension, stress, all heart related ailments, obesity, dementia and others which kill more people than old age. The consequences of this fraudulent trade off do not look good. Africans switched from eating simple, unrefined, unsophisticated but nutritious foods, started feeling guilty, inferior and primitive in their way of Life and migrated to the Western standard lifestyle which on the surface looked better. Even their African names were considered barbaric until you accepted the Western names which were coined Christian names which represented civilization. They felt they had arrived when they drink tea with white sugar the way Her Majesty the queen of Great Britain drinks her tea and the application of fork and knife to express achievement to Western civilization! There is nothing wrong with all this coping except many of the habits are bad & unnecessary for Africans to copy! The Western civilization is a combination of advanced civilization and backwardness, because they remove nutrients in food and pretend to bring them back via the supply of expensive vitamins in a way which is not affordable to an average person and sometimes in a form the body doesn’t recognize it as food anymore! The industrial plants to produce these fake food are advanced and sophisticated but unnecessary. Food is complex by its own origin and doesn’t require any improvement by man. The addition of preservatives, chemicals, refining food to remove nutrients in the name of improvement is what has brought Western knowledge about food in global disrepute, sickness, pain and suffering.
Notwithstanding, evaluation and criticism should not be careless, reckless nor disrespectful, but should always remember the beneficial side of all situations and circumstances to benefit us all. In this regard therefore, I wish to humbly express my appreciation to all positive advancement and contribution to mankind by the Western civilization and the health professionals. It is from some of them that I gathered valuable information in regard to understanding the basics in health related issues as well as a glimpse background of the mysterious human body machine and its intelligent workings and the power of
real food which support and heals the human body if necessary. I am not sufficiently educated to qualify to criticize the health professionals except perhaps to say some are obese themselves which disqualify them to give advice and guidance to a better lifestyle. It is also standard rule that any guidance contained in this write up does not suggest you change or replace any medication you might currently be taking, but a challenge to the current status quo as far as health issues about available information is concerned. There is no competition but a humble approach to share knowledge and alternatives that could be beneficial to some people who lack basic knowledge and understanding in regard to diet and health in a language and approach that is simplified as I intend to try. Not many people will be privileged to read as many books as I have done, like a very old book written by Jethro Kloss in 1939 titled Back to Eden and the rare wisdom and understanding of Edgar Cayce. It has been my interesting observation that when the Universe wants you to understand something, it first prepares you, and then reveals exceptional understanding and wisdom which sometimes is not available even to the most educated! All health related books came rushing towards me to plead that I read them and indeed I read them!
In the arrangement of the Universe, everything works perfect and accurate. It would serve us all better to practice to increase our awareness so that we start following indications of where the Universe prefers as our Destiny. Some have missed their crucial business scheduled flight by few minutes, then the same flight crashes midair after few minutes of take off, killing everyone on board! Our souls in all of us are constantly searching and when we are ready to understand, ready to change for the better and for our own benefit, the Universe makes the prophet available to hold our hand and show us the way. At all levels, each of us has a Coach to teach us as well as to give us guidance and support. I wish to express my deep appreciation as well to all the dietitians, doctors, nutritional scientists and professors whom I met through reading their valuable and intelligent books! The price I paid for all this valuable information and guidance is the price appearing on the back cover of their books. Some of these books I bought Second Hand and only paid half the original price. This is generosity and sharing at its best. The biggest jackpot I got is not the information and wisdom only but the benefits of personal better health and increased years I am currently enjoying and all indications point that this is just the beginning of my more additional bonus years. Lack of zeal, excitement and commitment to apply new information which could improve our lives could be an indication that we are not yet ready! During Christ’s ministry of three years or so, daily miracles of miraculous healing the sick and the dead brought back to Life, only Hundred and Twenty were recorded to have got it! Even today an average person still misses the simple reality that Christ was God and Mary was the Mother of God!
Any one lesson I have learned from reading a book is an indication that I have benefited immensely from my effort to read the book. It is these various pieces of lessons from various books that today form my various habits that make my current Life. Perhaps we should practice to be patient with each other. There is no need to hurry nor to be judgmental to each other, most of these privileges are gifts to certain individuals. Religion would like to see us all saved today, but spirituality understands that it is not given unto everyone Now to understand the Mystery of the Kingdom of God. God is a Family, some will be Second Borns, but ultimately according to the Master Plan, everybody will be saved and at some stage everybody will return to eating right. Again the Prophet Isaiah talks about a time when you will hear a firm voice saying walk this way! Perhaps that is the time human ignorance will be stopped and proper guidance about health and diet will be made available to the majority for humanity’s own benefit. Besides, ultimately, to solve the human misery and suffering, the population explosion, pollution, Allah will usher the New Heavens and the New Earth, with everything in it made from Spiritual Material like Him. No more disease, no more pain, no more suffering and no more Death! The study of nutrition in relation to the human body machine is complex and broad and doctors should not just receive a crash course about it towards the end of becoming qualified, but that is the way things are arranged in the study of Western medicine which only treats disease symptoms rather than the cause and prevention which is the case in the Chinese approach to medicine and disease. However, there are many, many doctors who have come to realize their own poor prepared medical background in the area of nutrition and have corrected this situation and have now contributed amazing findings about nutrition and the human body! They now know which superfoods will help our immune system to repair and heal from even cancer especially at early stages. This is like an obese soldier, who basically wouldn’t be fit for the army. Doctors and all health professionals should shape up and show us the way by example.
Disease symptoms are just warning signals from the intelligent body that something in the body machine system is out of balance and in most cases due to the food we eat. Come to think about it, food is spiritual as well like the human body which is both physical and spiritual. They derive their spirituality from being made to grow by the dynamics and forces of nature which is spiritual. The drugs of the massive pharmaceutical industry which are also not interested in the treatment of causes and prevention but of symptoms so that they can continue to rake trillions of Rand in Annual Profits. Perhaps we should all consider to invest in all pharmaceutical companies like Bill Gates! He is ahead to understand the average ignorance of human beings and the direction of the pharmaceutical industry which he has become part of. The profits of this massive industry will continue to skyrocket to levels unheard of in the history of modern business and investment returns. I wish to declare as well that I am not religious but I have read the good Book well and amongst my other excellent books it has improved my English, history, health, philosophy, agriculture, economics, politics, leadership, relations, sociology, religion, spirituality, psychology, geography and many other disciplines! Today I possess the gift of having read many health books, the privilege of practicing and living what I have learned from these books and of course eventually owning the knowledge and wisdom as mine and the bigger advantage of course being the Practical Applicant of the knowledge which I am sharing here! It is applied knowledge that becomes wisdom! I applied this ancient wisdom on myself and I am well over my Seventies but I am in amazing good shape, fine tuned and in good health in all respects! However, good health doesn’t necessarily mean we won’t die, but it might prevent pain and suffering. Every day for five days a week, I run my Eight Kilometers at Forty Thirty AM, not in any competition with anyone, not even with my own body, but relaxed, in joyful cooperation and partnership with my body, mind and soul, inhaling deep the country side fresher, crisp morning oxygen and listening to the various melodies from early birds, feeling a sense of gratitude, peacefulness and a rare fulfillment. This has become a tradition which doesn’t allow any excuse if it is colder or windy except a day when it rains hard! In winter it is the same, except the adjusted starting time. It is during this morning run that I meditate, appreciate the gift of Life and usually receive my revelations and more wisdom. After reading over two hundred books on Health and Diet alone, I also came to realize that only few are great.
The Summary and wisdom of these few good and great books therefore is the
following;
The consumption of sugar in all its disguised names, salt, overeating and the consumption of Western refined carbohydrates are the cause of our global health crisis; the white rice, white maize meal, cakes, ice cream, biscuits, dairy products loaded with sugar, food loaded with additives, preservatives and chemical colorings, consumption of huge quantities of forced fed red meat, cheap processed meats, chickens injected with antibiotics which end up flooding the human body, pizzas and all fast foods with their fake foods, the consumption of fats like margarine, butter and cheap mass produced vegetable cooking oil produced at unacceptable temperatures. They are inflammatory in our human bodies. The Western lifestyle has changed everything, most meats like those used in the burgers are fake and even honey is refined. Rather diet should be arranged mainly around fruits, raw organic vegetables, mabele meal, pure millet, nuts like raw almonds, chestnuts, Brazilian nuts, pecans, macadamia nuts, cashews, walnuts & pistachios which are good for erection, and seeds like flax, sesame, pumpkin, chia, sunflower, legumes which include the lentils in all their various colors, peanuts being part of the legume variety and essential for longevity! As for oil, the extra virgin olive oil is not for cooking with like other oils because it is sensitive to heat and high temperature! Rather, try grape or sesame oil for high temperature cooking. Cooking with extra virgin olive oil is just a process of making it a bad oil like others. Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a noble product which can be tasted like wine for texture, for intensity, for aroma, for taste, for character, for fragrance, for class, for delicacy, for flavor & for maturity. Just add it after cooking or can also be used for salad dressing. You can also drink a spoon or two every day of extra virgin olive oil. It also assist in the lowering of the bad cholesterol and is good food for the brain. The mortality rate of the people of the Mediterranean who have lived on extra virgin olive oil for centuries as a tradition has been recorded to be higher in comparison to other regions! The consumption of honey also needs mentioning. People have gone ahead and started consuming large amounts of honey because they heard honey is healthy. It is true that honey is healthy and better than sugar if we could use it in moderation. In this regard insist on raw honey. From health shops you can also obtain bee pollen. The wisest man who ever lived cautioned the eating of too much honey/sugar! (Prov. 25 Verse 27)
Western technology has come up with the Blender. It is an amazing modern kitchen equipment which can help to unlock nutrients in seeds like flaxseed by crushing them open and can also introduce you to the wonderful world of eating raw organic vegetables by blending them with various fruits for taste and producing own appetizing colors. Further, when making own special smoothies you can add natural herbs as well like spirulina, garlic, chives, poppy, ginger, leeks, black mecca & ginseng, both good for libido, cinnamon, black pepper which is good for digestion & helps the curcumin in turmeric to be absorbed by the body, moringa, hemp seeds (high in pH) cayenne pepper and cumin. These are all superfoods, packed with nutrients, antioxidants, anti inflammatory, the power to repair, heal and cleanse the human body machine! Good food is medicinal as well! We should avoid to be just customers to our doctors but rather be Life students to understand more mysteries about our own sophisticated bodies and seek to understand where they get their sophisticated intelligence. The mysteries of the functions and coordination of the human body machine should not be taken for granted. Good food communicates with the human body machine and the human body machine communicates back to good food. They share the mysterious wisdom and both have Life. Start your day an hour before your breakfast by drinking herbal tea of your choice with a squeezed lemon at a warmer level. Teas to choose from are hibiscus, matcha, oolong, black and green. Obtainable from a Health Shop. Keep apple cider vinegar in your kitchen cupboard and dissolve a spoon in a glass of water for a drink daily. Dairy products are acidic and high in animal fat, mucus forming and affect the body pH whereas all fruits and vegetables will assist to maintain the correct body pH on the alkaline side which boosts the whole immune system of the body. Contrary to popular belief, it is not easy for the human body machine to digest cow milk properly. Amasi is even better because of the bacteria it contains which is good for the fauna and flora of the gut. This same bacteria is also found in the Bulgarian Plain Yogurt. Cow milk blocks antioxidants activity in the body whereas lemon in herbal tea without sugar increases it! Further, note that cancer cells feed on all bad fats, sugar and an environment with a low pH, ( acidic state) and for multiplying. Bacteria and viruses don’t survive where the pH is on the alkaline side like pH 7 and a bit plus. So it is prudent to starve them off what makes them thrive and the body could get the space to heal any disease especially at early stages where it could still be possible to reverse the progression of any disease! The human body machine is itself a massive network of sophisticated chemistry, self knowing wisdom, always ahead of human discovery about it! Yes, it is essential to possess basic knowledge which human scientists are able to identify which foods are superfoods, but the human body machine has self knowing wisdom of how to use every nutrient in good food! Contrary to our human believe that God is far away from us, the simple explanation is that God dwells within all of us in the Holy of Holies Temple inside us and directs this accurate and efficient wisdom! Enlightenment is the long journey for each of us to undertake but finally to find out that despite our human ignorance and our own self under rating, God dwells inside all of us! We are Godself same material! It has been too long and due to partly our humanity which is inherently forgetful, those that have a better remembering capacity are able to start putting together the pieces of a beautiful forgotten dream which will lead back to where it all started, which is the beginning. We have always existed with the Whole, we are the various parts that when put together complete the Whole. God is everything put together. There is nothing that is not God! Avoid overeating and high salt content & eat good sized portions so that the various organs in the body are not overburdened. Eat less or should I say lesser! Overeating is partly responsible for obesity. Perhaps obese people should consider sharing the extra food they are consuming with the starving masses out there! The Universe has always had sufficient resources for everyone, we have lacked the formula in the art of sharing.
The Universal intelligence which our human bodies are linked to connects all of us to the Whole. Our current awareness right now that we exist is proof that we always existed even before our formation in the wombs of our mothers . Jeremiah 1 This is pure mystery but true revelation! Know your body height, your weight and maintain the correct weight for your body height & keep it consistent. Keep the BMI (Body Mass Index) less than the figure 24 or even lesser for women. The guide here is that if your BMI is less than the figure 18,5, it is an indication that you are underweight! That needs correction as well. (BMI; Your height square divided into your current weight) Avoid smoking or quit without any further delay, smoking causes various cancers especially lung cancer. Also avoid alcohol or drink in moderation or occasionally a glass of red wine which contains antioxidants from grapes during fermentation.
Get sufficient sunlight and keep at least one of the bedroom windows always open even during winter for good ventilation and for fresh, clean and quality oxygen.
Start delaying breakfast perhaps to between 10 and 12 noon, it could be the start to get into the good habit of Intermittent Fasting, the body gets the chance for self cleansing daily and use all calories which would otherwise end up being converted into fat by the system, this assist in consistent weight. The body takes only two days to adjust to the new delayed breakfast, I have personally observed! Eating three meals a day is just a tradition which we don’t even know who started it, just like eating breakfast early. If you can survive on two meals a day, so what? Generally we are always overeating! However, you can teach your body your new tradition and new commands. Eat your final meal early around five in the evening unless on special occasions. This allows the natural house keeping night shift of our bodies to take charge early, to digest, to balance, to eliminate, to cleanse, and have time to rest and that is how you feel good, great, fresh with better energy the following morning. Red meat takes about four to six hours to be metabolized, whereas fish, poultry take less & fruits and vegetables even lesser! Pity that even our poultry and fish are not organic anymore. Plant based diet is the best second to none! Perhaps we should all consider to start taking a journey towards the Vegetarian Border or Vegetarian World!! The Western diet has been refined beyond the call of any necessity for our wellness and the Western project of adding harmful coloring chemicals, preservatives and unhealthy additives in food is not abaiting, so choose natural real food for the body like basmati brown rice, sweet potatoes especially those that have deep colors like yellow. These deep colors are an expression of the rich nutrients they possess. Also cook potatoes with their skin jackets. Ordinary potatoes should not be eaten more than three times a week. Perhaps twice a week is a better maximum! A diet based largely on fruits and vegetables has proven to be sufficient in protein contrary to popular belief. Even athletes on plant based diet perform better in comparison. The body requires only about _+ 45 to +_60 grams protein a day depending on body size) In this suggested guidance on Diet, which as time goes on, you will also be able to improve & become your own Master, note that I don’t even create space for the popular eggs and bread! The bread has unnecessary additives & chemicals for shelf life and eggs are too high in cholesterol whereas the body manufactures its own good cholesterol! However, you can buy your bread from health shops or bake your own heathy bread. Various tasty nut butters are available from Health Shops. The body has more than three trillion cells, this count vary, but to function efficiently the cells require sufficient water, so drink about 1, 5 liters of refined water a day. Tap water is highly polluted or if you have to drink tap water, boil it for about fifteen minutes! Regular drinking of sufficient refined water will also start repairing the leaks in the body system so that the water is retained and used correctly and efficiently by the body system.
However, separate the drinking of water from meals by about thirty minutes to an hour. Taken at the same time, the water dilutes the enzymes and hydrochloric acid in the stomach released by the body for digestion. It is suggested to avoid stressful schedules, tight deadlines, rather practice to take it easy but remaining effective and efficient. Just practice to plan better. This is in line with the wisdom to understand that you can only do so much each day and not more! This doesn’t mean with this approach you won’t be successful but just that you cannot be every where at all times, and therefore in other areas of your Life perhaps it is better to get other family members to represent you and you to represent them in other family functions. Rest your body sufficiently by sleeping enough hours especially during the night. Choose a slow lane for your Life, you will even become more effective & successful! What is required is good, effective and efficient management of daily personal affairs and business. The guidance to rest contained in the Master’s Manual will always prove wise against keeping ourselves in the fast lane of being too busy at all times, which has resulted in our own affliction in poor health, stress, suffering and pain. It seems to hold true that we need regular physical and spiritual recharge which was indicated to do better on a weekly cycle. The Jews have been consistent to maintain and remember ancient wisdom and are still resting on the Sabbath and have always made better choices with food unto this day! Plus because of keeping the Sabbath they have not lost their Identity! They have realized that when it comes to food there is enough to choose from! When this ancient wisdom says pork is not good meat, for sure you can be rest assured it is not no matter how much you have come to enjoy it! When this simple wisdom is violated, we pay the price of pain and the suffering of strange diseases perhaps like epilepsy especially in young children and piles which is caused by eating too refined foods which have no fiber! So is the wisdom and simple but brilliant hygiene of Islam practice! Don’t wipe your ass, rather wash it! For all readers currently suffering from piles, try this practice to relieve the itching and pain in your ass!
Life has rules, we should seek to discover and understand these rules and make intelligent but difficult choices to live by so as to experience and express ourselves better during our Lifetime! This is the whole purpose to be here within our beautiful & wonderful physical bodies.
The massive scientific breakthroughs are becoming more and more of a curse to mankind than a huge blessing! Natural births have become rare especially for the financially privileged! Every little challenge ends up in the operating table! The simplicity of natural beauty in birth is not appreciated nor trusted anymore! The baby must arrive earlier before the family Gynecologist goes on holiday! What a pity, what a shame! When we eat useless refined foods which have no nutrients, chances are we drive our bodies into constant craving mode, then we eat more and more but once we return to eating real natural foods our bodies will return to normal and we will naturally eat less. Try and avoid body injuries also even what you would consider ordinary scratches and bruises on your body, your body has both unlimited physical and spiritual potential. When you do this, it will reveal some other secrets for your more enjoyable of Life. Also protect it from diseases, like HIV/Aids. These are avoidable but in case you have already contacted them from past ignorance, disclose to family members, or few good, trustworthy and reliable friends for sharing, support and seek professional guidance. We are social beings and sometimes just getting support plays a very significant part to give us moral strength, hope and confidence to overcome and continue in Life. Naturally we relax, feel good & better when we enjoy the connectedness and our shared humanity. You get the best family support and from trustworthy friends and professional guidance on issues of these nature when you are transparent and ready to change into a better and positive lifestyle. For the efforts you put in circumstances like this, it is never too late to lead you back to positive quality Life again!
When the body is given good raw materials in the form of wholesome food to run its own mysterious and highly sophisticated wisdom, it will always prove that indeed it is a master piece of creation unequaled in the whole history of creation and its mysterious wisdom is capable to heal any disease! Our bodies come packaged with Self Correcting and Self Healing Applications! We should just download and allow the body to use these applications! Science is not catching up with the wisdom contained in our bodies! However, it will continue to reveal itself to all who seek to understand or to learn from its mysteries. Indeed wonderfully and fearfully made!
Make your good diet your medicine and enjoy the beautiful gift of Life!
The dynamics of good health which comes from good diet is huge and complex but ultimately when we are in good physical health our spirituality improves to better heights as well. Our spiritual awareness rises and revelations direct from the Universe appear to share with us who we are, where we come from and a better guide to where we are headed. We are part of the mystery of Life Itself! Do not ignore nor override the intelligent warning signals your body gives when it is not happy with what you eat. The size of your stomach is only the size of your fist, so always practice to eat frugally. This alone takes time to master! I battled for about five years to get it right! Part of obesity is caused by overeating resulting in burdening the whole body machine whereas the body plant to run the body machine system remains the same. So, the plant is small but the body has increased in size. When everything is said and done, we should also avoid becoming food fanatics! Our lifestyle is a beautiful and challenging journey but without a destination! Along the way we will ultimately make better choices with the food we choose for our bodies! Don’t forget a good laugh occasionally & regular good sex, both have proven to be good medicine as well! Along this cultivate a spirit of love, of tolerance, of sharing, of gratitude and of peacefulness. Be kind and tolerant with yourself and others. This is a journey to happiness and fulfillment! This kind of state of mind automatically connects you with the Universe. Improve your body hygiene overall, teeth flossed and brushed with a soft brush. Avoid hard or even medium hard tooth brushes, rather change your soft brush every four months. Read labels carefully of body lotions you use, so that you choose those that are not harmful to the body. Try essential oils and tissue oils. However, the Universe (God) respects our choices because it is what we choose to be that we will become, so if we choose to be unhealthy it won’t interfere but the good choice to be healthy will be supported with all the positive laws of nature and more secrets of Life will be revealed and the rewards will be great! The power of our choices remain broad to the extent that even when we choose to be a violent and greedy society, God doesn’t deny our choice but only observes!
