The chances are, the average person who would like to start exercising is already overweight or obese. I know this for sure because of the type of food we eat and my general observation of the state of health of an average person. However, as Dr Mike Moreno puts it; ” It is never too late to be fit and fabulous! “
The Western diet of refined carbohydrates and fast foods, the consumption of sugar in all its disguised forms and the huge amounts of red meat. It is the old story in which you exercise but not eat well or you eat well but don’t exercise. We should endeavor to bring these two into harmony.
Good food and exercise compliment each other to produce a healthy and vibrant body, therefore to achieve good health you need exercise, unfortunately there is no substitute for it, our bodies expect it from all of us.
So where to start? Start at the weigh bridge and know your exact current weight. Change the Lifestyle and habits. Exercise requires determination, discipline and consistency! If practiced repeatedly enough though, it becomes infectious, a habit which is not easy to break away from. Notwithstanding, the benefits are huge.
I have also observed Families whose children are obese from an early age. Obese children are products of a Family which is ignorant in its health matters and Lifestyle. Some of these children have developed both types of Diabetes and some have died at early age of cancer. The correction of a Family’s Lifestyle and exercise can contribute to a huge difference in the state of health for an entire Family. If needs be let the whole Family eat well and exercise together!
When new habits have been repeated sufficiently, exercise becomes a habit you cannot imagine to skip nor to live without.
Second choose the type of exercise that you will enjoy! Some people choose aerobics, some swimming, some dancing, some just mere walking, some cycling, some hiking and so forth.
Exercise is so crucial that even a sick heart needs it to strengthen and heal. It is a myth that just because you suffered heart attack you don’t need some sort of moderation exercise to strengthen the heart again. If you can still run, run and if you can’t run walk briskly! The ancient wisdom is not to compete anyone, not even your own body, rather listen to your body and respond to the warning signals it communicates with you. As the slogan goes ” Run your own marathon!) ” If you participate in the Marathon with this approach and mentality it becomes enjoyable, exciting and fulfilling and so is individual exercise.
Don’t rave up your heart hard which is not yet familiar with exercise, otherwise it could stop permanently and you become another statistic of yet another heart attack while running as if exercise was something bad but rather at the start of your exercises handle everything in moderation. Some need the guidance of their doctors so go get that advice but get started in the good habit of exercise. Some people choose to do it with their partners which naturally creates more love, more friendship, more joy and more intimacy in the relationship! In such cases, even the sex life improves!
The Universe has created everything in duality. If we practice good physical habits we can start doing the same in our spiritual matters! Physical exercise can become spiritual exercise. Physical endurance can become spiritual endurance. Physical challenges can help us handle our spiritual challenges better! In all human problems however, the solution is always hidden in the spiritual background which is just the lifting of the curtain a little distance away!
Since exercise is linked to a good lifestyle, it means that we should watch the sizes of our food portions which we consume even in the case of the good food we consume. We should avoid overeating and always eat lesser and exercise a bit more.
Perhaps it would be beneficial to some people if I share my own case study and also share my own experiences. I am 1,87 meters tall. When I started exercising my weight was 98kg which means my BMI was 26-28. ( BMI; stands for Body Mass Index. ) To calculate the BMI multiply your height twice and use that value to divide into your current weight. For men any value above 24 & for women above 21 is overweight & around 30 is obese. So I was overweight! Today that weight has come down to around 76kg and my BMI has come down to 20! (Normal BMI). Check your BMI: https://www.calculator.net/bmi-calculator.html.
My changed habits, the choice of proper food, a better lifestyle & exercise have benefited me immensely! My elder brother and two younger brothers did not make it to my current age of Seventy Three. I run Eight Kilometers every 4;30 AM five days a week. (Monday to Friday) I have also been on a High Blood Pressure Drug for over Forty Years. I searched for guidance from more than reading over two hundred health related books. I am happy to share with all of you that I have removed myself from that Drug but my Blood Pressure remains stable now! This is a true story of effort and tremendous blessing!
Another way to manage a disease like Diabetes is through exercise. Coupled with proper diet this disease can even be reversed if it is not too late and one of your legs have not been amputated already. Exercise improves blood circulation to the far end of the body which also guarantees better libido!
I don’t advise anyone to copy me, I have put lots of effort into my Lifestyle but it has paid me dividends. Don’t be like an average person who likes good things in Life without any effort, unfortunately Life doesn’t operate like that! I don’t think Jesus Christ was overweight nor obese. He climbed mountains and walked distances and occasionally fasted! His spirituality was always alert and brilliant because his health was always superb! The secret is that somehow He exercised !!
Follow the guidance of your doctor and your Destiny but embrace change in your Life. My body is so happy at long last to be free from the side effects of drugs which some deplete the absorption of certain nutrients in the body. A body operating free from the side effects of drugs is far better than a body loaded with toxins of the side effects of drugs which overburden organs like the liver and kidneys. The human body organs work in harmony with each other and any failure of one affects the overall health performance of the entire system.
I have also put my body through vigorous cleansing and detoxification programs to remove toxins which had accumulated over the years through Intermittent Fasting and Fruits Diet until it is like a beautiful fine tuned Machine!
I have also read with sadness about some of my favorite personalities that have suffered a stroke and some fatal. Most of them are far younger than I! The cause of this unfortunate circumstances is wrong Lifestyle & lack of exercise!
Even when admitted in a government hospital you are not given proper food except all the refined stuff. The outright winner is the pharmaceutical conglomerates who supply drugs which only treat symptoms! An average doctor talks less about this situation because otherwise he would loose his livelihood which comes from the sick!
Take time to read about my previous article on the same topic on Diet, Disease & Health: https://shop.mgcorporate.africa/index.php/2022/12/02/diet-and-health-november-2022/. Apply this things on your Life. Practice these things & watch your world of health change for your better health.
Since we will all end up in heaven anyway, it is not necessary to hurry up to depart from this Life. We should finish what we came to this world for, which is to express ourselves and to experience ourselves!
Finally, when you exercise, close your mouth and breathe normally through the nostrils! This gives the lungs and the heart sufficient pressure for their necessary exercise and the brain benefits from receiving sufficient oxygen! Each human being should sweat a bit everyday and that sweating is part of cleansing & detoxification for the entire body machine!
